Simple Skincare Review

Simple Skincare products have been used for over 50 years by women in the UK (it’s their #1 facial skincare brand), and recently made their U.S. debut. With products including cleansers, wipes, moisturizers and eye care, Simple has almost everything you need.

Simple’s philosophy states that they “never use dyes or artificial perfumes that can upset your skin — only the purest possible ingredients.” This skincare line promises that the beneficial ingredients, added vitamins,  and lack of harsh dyes and perfumes will leave your skin clean and fresh without irritation.

While I’m very lucky to have “good” skin, the two areas I do face problems with are sensitive skin and redness. So I was very excited a few weeks back when I received a notification from Klout that I qualified for a free sample* of Simple skincare products. Within a few weeks — the package came surprisingly fast — my samples came in the mail. I was expecting just a few small samples that would last one or two uses. What I received instead was two full-size samples of their products, which will last me for months. The two items I was sent were the replenishing moisturizer and the cleansing facial wipes.

Simple Replenishing Moisturizer

The bottle states that this “12 hour moisturizer will leave your skin replenished and nourished all day long.” I’ve been using this product for a almost two weeks now and it definitely does its job. I’m not sure that my skin feels super moisturized for 12 hours straight, but I’ve noticed a decrease in dryness and redness. To get the most out of the product, I put this on right before bed, so it gets to soak in my skin while I sleep. Occasionally I’ll apply it in the morning as well. There isn’t really a distinct smell to this product, which adds to the fresh and clean feel of this brand.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

I’ve never been a huge fan of makeup remover wipes. Although I love the convenience of them, they just seem to never take all of my makeup off (I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Makeup Remover and a washcloth to really get all my mascara and eyeliner off). According to the package, these facial wipes are said to “refresh and nourish skin and remove waterproof mascara.” I found that these worked wonderfully at wiping off my facial makeup, and left my skin feeling smooth and fresh with NO redness or irritation — even after some scrubbing! However, these wipes didn’t do the trick when it came to the eye makeup. I would definitely use these on days when I just want to refresh my skin or when I have minimal makeup to remove.

As mentioned before, I have pretty clear skin, so from an acne point of view, I cannot vouch for this product’s effectiveness. However, as someone who has occasional sensitive skin and dryness in the winter, I found that this product did help combat some of the seasonal dryness while avoiding irritating my skin. I recommend this product line to anyone looking for a new, easy and effective skincare routine.
