The Best Beach Totes
This past weekend, I got to spend my entire Saturday at the beach with my boyfriend and his extended family. This was extra special for me since I don’t get to go to the beach often (I live in upstate NY, so the closest beach is 4+ hours away). It also marked the first time I got to use my favorite lemon & lime beach bag from Target, seen below.
For those of you who live near the beach, you still have a good two months of beach time left. The best part about beach bags is that they can be re-used for so many other purposes — whether it’s for summer picnics or as a bag for shopping. While the cute bag above is sold out (you can find a similar one here), here are a few of the best beach bags and totes I’ve found on the internet.

Tips for Choosing a Beach Tote
- Look for options that are waterproof or sand-proof. You’ll notice some product listings contain this information, as some bags are made from waterproof materials or have a lining inside that catches the sand (genius, right?).
- Choose a non-fussy material. Think about all the elements your beach bag will encounter — they’ll come into contact with food and drink, messy sand, salt water, and more. Materials like cotton (especially if it’s more of a traditional tote bag) can easily be thrown in the wash, while materials like straw or canvas are sturdier and more durable.
- Look for pockets. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thrown a phone or other item in a beach bag only for it to get damaged. Look for beach bags or totes with special pockets and sections to put delicate items.
- Keep size in mind. At minimum, you’ll need room for a towel (or 2), your phone, sunglasses, and maybe a small lunch bag.
