Benefit High Beam Review

A few months ago I received a $25 gift card to Sephora from the lovely Kristin of Dressed and Fed. After much debate over which product to purchase, I settled on a much talked-about beauty product I had been dying to try — Benefit High Beam. High Beam is a highlighter for your skin, or as they like to call it on the package, “luminescent complexion enhancer”. Fancy, huh?

What I love about the product specifically is the shade of the highlighter. It’s great on fair skin (like mine!), whereas I find lots of other highlighters to only look good on tan skin. I also love the nail polish-like applicator, which makes it go on super easy. I find that I can really control the amount I’m putting on this way vs. highlighter coming out of a tube.

The photo above shows the highlighter unblended (top) and blended (bottom). While the price is a bit steep, the small bottle will last you forever. Plus, this isn’t a product you’d necessarily wear every day to work, so it won’t get used up as quickly as your foundation.

How to Use Benefit High Beam

To use this product, simply dot across the areas on your face to wish to highlight and blend in with your finger or a beauty blender. I generally put a few dots on the top of my cheekbones to enhance them and a dot on my brow bone as well. I’ve read and seen people who use it on the center or side of their nose to reduce the shape of their nose (in that case, maybe I should try it!) No matter where you decide to use it, blending well is the key. This stuff can make you look like a disco ball if you don’t blend it in well enough.

Have you tried Benefit’s High Beam? What do you think about it?

  1. I haven’t tried this or heard of it but I think I might have to try it. I’ve just been using a shadow as a highlighter and it is okay but I want something better.

  2. I’ve heard of it but never tried it. Thanks for the review! Maybe if I get a gift card I’ll try it out since I agree it’s a bit pricey.
