Hot Boot Looks of 2012
one / two / three / four / five
One of the best parts about fall fashion is the footwear. It’s now too cold for sandals, and sneakers seem a bit too boring, which makes boots the perfect option. Boots are a very versatile item that comes in a wide range of styles, heel heights and colors. Investing in a good pair (or two) of boots is essential for the fall season.
Here are some of the hottest boot trends for fall 2012:
Riding boots
One footwear trend that has been around for a while is the classic riding boot. These boots are tall and thin, covering a majority of your leg and giving them a streamlined shape. Usually they are flat or have a small heel, since comfort is key with this type of boots. Riding boots are a great way to keep comfortable but still look stylish. Opt for a neutral color, such as black, grey or brown, so that you can wear them with just about everything in your closet.
Ankle booties
Another fun trend is the ankle bootie. Just as the name states, these boots hit at your ankle and can be worn with a variety of clothing items, including skinny jeans, dresses and skirts. They can make a casual outfit look dressier and a dressier outfit appear trendier. These boots are easy to slip on and wear, making them a favorite among many.
Detailed boots
For those who want to add an edge to their look, detailed boots are the way to go. Popular options include studded boots, which give a rocker edge to any outfit. Buckles are another popular adornment on detailed boots- they can serve as functional or just for aesthetic purposes. For a Western flair, look for boots with fringe details. Keep your accessories to a minimum when wearing detailed boots, since you want your footwear to be the main attraction.
Over-the-knee boots
For those who dare to try the risky trends, try wearing a pair of over-the-knee boots. While not everyone can pull off this look, those who do are sure to draw attention this fall. The key to wearing over-the-knee boots is to keep the rest of your look demure and simple, since the footwear will be the show-stopper of your ensemble. To add extra height, wear a pair with a thin heel.
Mid-calf motorcycle boots
Lastly, a mid-calf motorcycle boot is seen everyone this fall. This style hits at the perfect spot, which flatters women of all shapes and sizes. Try a classic black for a wearable style or look for fun variations of color, like the season’s hottest color: oxblood.
