Valentine’s Day Playlist

Happy (early) Valentine’s Day everyone! In honor of the holiday, I’m posting my very own love playlist with some of my favorite love songs. Enjoy the mush- and let me know what some of your favorite love songs are in the comments!

“1,000 Times a Day” by The Early November”– This is my favorite love song, hands down. It’s an acoustic song that flows more like a conversation or love letter than a song. It basically tells the love story of the band’s singer, Ace Enders, and his wife. It’s precious. She’s a lucky woman. Every woman deserves her husband to write a song about their love story! “So now we have a house and a couple pets / We’re even getting married 9 years after it / And every time I see you /I still hear trumpets”

“January Wedding” by The Avett Brothers– If you’ve never listened to the Avett Brothers, you’re missing out. Their bluegrass sound and crisp melodies are what music today should sound like. I love listening to this album (and song) on long drives. Plus, how cute would it be if you had this as your wedding song if you got married in January?

“Marry You” by Bruno Mars– This song instantly puts me in a good mood- it’s just so cheery! “‘Cause it’s a beautiful night / We’re looking for something dumb to do / Hey baby I think I wanna marry you.” Plus, there was this epic proposal video to the song. How amazing is that?

“Wonderwall” by Oasis– Not only is this song impossible not to sing along with when it comes on, but it’s just so beautiful. There truly is nothing greater in life than being someone else’s wonderwall or having one of your own. If you’re lucky, it might just be both. “Because maybe / You’re gonna be the one that saves me / And after all / You’re my wonderwall”.

“I Want to Know Your Plans” by Say Anything– Although I love Say Anything for their crazy lyrics, this love song is pretty impressive, too. Instead of the typical “gag-me” cheesy song lyrics, this song has some quirky and funny ones that portray real love. “You’re what keeps me believing the world’s not gone dead / Strength in my bones put the words in my head / When they pour out to paper, it’s all for you / ‘Cause that’s what you do”.

“Wanted” by Hunter Hayes– Although I’m not a huge country music fan, I adore this song. Within the first 30 seconds of the song, I promise your heart will already be hurting (in a good way). “You know I’d fall apart without you / I don’t know how you do what you do / ‘Cause everything that don’t make sense about me / It makes sense when I’m with you”.

“I Will Follow You Into the Dark” by Deathcab for Cutie– This song is adorable. Yes, it’s about death partially, but mostly how the couple will be together forever, even in the afterlife. “Love of mine some day you will die / But I’ll be close behind / I’ll follow you into the dark.”

“My Beautiful Rescue” by This Providence– A happy love song about finding someone who makes your life better, even when things might not be going so well. “I’m falling more in love / With every single word you say.” Aw.

“I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain– I remember being like 10 when this song came out but I still knew how great of a love song it was. Oh the joys of being young and having crushes…

“Little Things” by One Direction– Whether you love or hate the modern-day boy band, one thing is clear- this song is cute. This is the song that every girl wishes a boy would write about them. It shows that even the things we hate about ourselves, there is a guy (or girl) out there who will love you for them. “You’ll never love yourself half as much as I love you / You’ll never treat yourself right, darling, but I want you to / If I let you know I’m here for you / Maybe you’ll love yourself like I love you, oh.”

“The Only Exception” by Paramore– For all you love critics out there, this song is for you. Singer Hayley Williams sings about how she never believed in love until one day she fell in love, hence the title, “The Only Exception”.

“Ho Hey” by The Lumineers– I fell in love with his song the first time I heard it (way before mainstream radio picked it up- sadly). It’s so simple and cute- perfect for a couple. Plus I have a soft spot for being called “sweetheart”, so I feel like the song means so much more.

“All or Nothing” by O Town– Maybe this song holds a special place in my heart since my middle-school boyfriends and I would dance to it, but I had to include it on this playlist. Cheesy- yes.

  3. Ah! There is so much I love about this playlist! I totally agree with the Bruno Mars song. Whenever I hear it I want to run away and elope with the next person I see. “Wanted” is one of my favorite songs! I admittedly love country but Hunter Hayes is just so adorable. Also, amazing addition of O Town! I actually died when I saw you added that haha!
