Emerald Eyeliner
Typically I’m a black eyeliner kind of girl. During the workweek I keep my makeup minimal (usually just some mascara on my eyes), but on nights and weekends I like to add a bit more. Black is great, but sometimes I get bored and want to change things up without going too overboard. That’s when emerald liner comes into play. It’s the perfect color to go with my brown eyes and is dark enough to look good as eyeliner (plus, it’s Pantone’s color of the year). Whether you want to replace your top liner with emerald or add a bit to your bottom liner if you’re bold, here are my tips and suggestions.
Emerald eyeliner on top lash line only
Emerald liner on top and bottom lash lines
Instead of buying an emerald eyeliner, I usually wet my liner brush and use one of my eye shadow shades. I have a huge palette from Sephora as well as a BH cosmetics one, so I have about 5 different emeralds to choose from. For this purpose, I picked my Makeup Geek eye shadow in “Envy”. First, I apply primer to my lids- paying extra attention to my eyelid- where the liner will go. Then I wet my eyeliner brush, dip it into the shadow and apply it in short strokes across my lid. I finish with one final thin stroke and clean up and mess with a q-tip dipped in makeup remover.
So, are you convinced that emerald is the new black yet? Here are some eye shadows and eyeliners to use if you’re going to give it a try.
Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Eyeshadow in “Edgy Emerald” / NARS Eyeshadow Duo in “Mad, Mad World” / Urban Decay Eyeshadow in “Loaded” / L’Oreal Double Extend Eye Illuminator Liner in “Black Emerald” / Make Up Forever Aqua Liner in “Emerald Green” / Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in “Clinic” / Tarte Skinny SmolderEYES Waterproof Liner in “Emerald” / Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in “Forest Green”

What a cool trend. I wonder if emerald eyeliner would bring out or dull my brownish green eyes? Hmm I guess Ill try it out!
You would look beautiful!
I think I will have to try this! So different!!! I love it!! Great idea!!!
Gorgeous! I don’t know if I can pull off emerald eyeliner, although I want to try now! I’ve always been a big fan of navy and violet, so why not, right?!
um yes you can! You can wear any shade I’m sure 🙂
Love this eye tip! emerald is such a pretty color for eyes.
This is so pretty! It looks gorgeous on you Rachel 🙂 I used to wear emerald eyeliner ALL the time… but I would just use it on the very outside and inside of my eyes. Everyone used to ask how I did my makeup and it was just some cheap pencil from Sally’s Beauty. You just made me want to go buy it again!
That’s a good idea, too. I love playing around with colors and different techniques.
Ohh I love it! It’s not too dramatic, but is just enough to really bring out your eyes!
thank you!
I love this trend! I have green eyes so the emerald is a bit repetitive but with your gorgeous brown eyes this looks great
Aw thank you- you can pull off so many other shades with green eyes, too!
