One Year Blog Anniversary & Giveaway

1year

Today marks the one-year anniversary/birthday of my first blog post. I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped the success of Life Unsweetened. For years I wanted to start my own blog, and a silly New Year’s resolution was just the push I needed. Just like any other blogger starting off, my main readers were my family, friends and boyfriend. Their support helped me to continue working hard to get to where I am today.

Thank you to all of my readers- whether you have visited this blog once, once a month, once a week, or once a day! For those of you who leave sweet comments, I cannot tell you enough how much this means to me. I feel like I’ve made so many new “friends” through blogging, and I only hope I can meet each one of you in person someday (seriously, let’s get on this!)

Blogging has opened up so many doors for me. I landed a weekly column in a national magazine after the editor found my blog, I was featured on Bloggers.com as one of their “picks of the day”, and I received tons of e-mails from companies and advertisers looking to collaborate with my blog.

Blogging has not only improved my writing skills, but it’s also taught me a lot about HTML, graphic design, networking, social media and PR/marketing. I view my blog as my own side business, so when someone sponsors my blog or buys a shirt, the $1.00 I make feels amazing (that money goes straight to covering the cost of maintaining this blog, which is over $125 a year).

Blogging has also given me increased self-confidence. As someone who has always had issues with this, it boggles my mind how posting photos of my favorite outfits or writing a post about my personal life can change my entire outlook. It sounds silly, but every person who compliments my hair or calls me gorgeous (you guys are crazy, but sweet!) really makes my day. I enjoy being able to write about my problems, frustrations and pet peeves on here, and to hear that I’m not alone with them feels good.

To celebrate, a few of my fellow bloggers (and myself) are giving away some items for you to win. There will be one winner for each prize– so entering multiple ways gives you a higher chance of winning (maybe even more than once!)
