Weekend Wrap-Up

This past weekend I spent some much-needed time visiting my boyfriend James. The weather was beautiful (70 and sunny with a perfect breeze), so we decided to make a trip to the Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets and then a nice dinner at Torches on the Hudson in Newburgh, NY. The photo above is me standing on a dock in front of the Hudson River.

First up was the shopping. Although a lot of stores are a little out of my price range (even at outlet prices), it was still fun to look. The fun part about shopping at outlets with a boyfriend is their reaction to the prices we pay for handbags. Let’s just say our trip to Kate Spade prompted some crazy faces after checking the price tags.

I did however find a few items. I’m a longtime lover of PacSun since they carry sizes that actually fit my petite frame without making me look like a boy or a 13-year old girl. I picked up two pairs of their denim shorts for summer (this pair fits like a dream!) I also tried on this pair of high-waisted shorts. I fell in love, sadly I couldn’t think of that many occasions I would wear the bright coral color. I’ve having second thoughts though. The problems of being a girl…

I also found some great things at J Crew factory. I have far too many sundresses already, so I had to pass on those (so sad!) However, I did pick up a nice, casual tribal print tee (it’s not on the website anymore) and a cute tomato-colored scalloped tank top.

I also indulged in one of my favorite snacks from my childhood: Dippin Dots.

After a long day of shopping, we had a nice dinner. I got a mojito, shared coconut shrimp as an appetizer and decided on the pepper turkey panini. Or something similar. I forget how good mojitos are, I really need to order them more when I go out. Here are some photos of the view outside of the restaurant.

  5. Sounds like such a nice weekend 🙂 The ONLY reason my boyfriend understands handbag prices is because is mom sells Chanel bags for a living… So he’s always kind of in awe when the bags I buy for myself don’t cost an arm and a leg (compared to Chanel prices).

You should check out American Eagle for shorts. I’m petite too and I always end up getting shorts from there – they always have amazing sales on them!
