I’m Moving!

im moving

The fact that I’ve had to keep this little secret under wraps for a few weeks now has been killing me. You know when something great finally happens and you want to share it with the world? But you want to wait until all the paperwork is filed and everything is “official?” Well, that’s my story.

This girl is officially moving out of her hometown and parent’s house and into an apartment in an entirely different state with her boyfriend! I’ve been living at home in upstate NY since I graduated college because I a. found a job near my house a few months after graduation and b. needed desperately to save money in order to be able to pay my student loans & other expenses. Now that I’ve been saving up and working my little butt off, it seems that it has all paid off!

James and I have been doing the whole long-distance (3 hours apart) thing for 2 years now. While it hasn’t been easy, we’ve made it work. And I couldn’t be happier to finally get to move in with my best friend/boyfriend and start this adventure together.

In addition to moving out of my childhood home and into an apartment with my boyfriend in the state of New Jersey, I will also be starting a new job. I’m very excited to start a new job in the education marketing field where I will be working as an SEO Analyst. I’m very thankful to have found a job that allows me to go to the next level in my career, and I’m excited for all the new things I’ll be learning and new responsibilities and duties I will have.

So what does this all mean? Well, I’ll probably be a little busy with packing up my life, organizing things and moving, so I may not be posting as much as the blog as I’d normally like to. I’m going to try my best to still read some of your blogs and to schedule a few posts ahead of time to keep everyone entertained. This also means that all you bloggers/non-bloggers reading this who live in New Jersey, southern NY or NYC now have no excuse not to meet up with me and see my fabulousness in person. Ok- I’m not that fabulous, but I would love to get to hang out with some of you once I get settled in!

You should also prepare for plenty of blog posts revolving around this major life change. These may include, but are not limited to, posts about why moving sucks, things I’m scared about, things I’ll miss from home, adventures in decorating my apartment, how the hell am I going to fit all my clothes in here, and much more. You’ve been warned.

What am I asking from you? Although I’ve technically moved in and out of apartments for a few years while I was in college, this move is certainly bigger. So I’m looking for any moving tips/tricks/blog posts/websites that may be useful. I’m also now in full-on apartment decorating mode, so send over your favorite home decor Pinterest accounts or blogs as well.

  16. Congratulations!!!! I moved from Michigan to OK about a year ago, moving everything I own with a car & a SUV + a LONG road trip. My life saver was using the “space saver vacuum bags” to shrink all my clothes/blankets/sweatshirts down and allow me to fit so much more into my suitcases and car! I’d buy furniture when you get to the new place, moving a dresser and two large TV’s was difficult for me! I’m sure I have a million more tips/tricks, I’ll keep thinking 🙂

  17. I’m so excited for you! Apartment Therapy has been my savior for inspiration and reviews! x

  18. Congrats Rach! Thats such awesome news, I’m so happy for you! We just went through a move too, and my biggest piece of advice is to pack with some organiztion. We did well with most of our stuff, but near the end it was a free for all throwing things in any box that would fit. Its a nightmare to unpack lol. Also, use this chance to purge a lot of the clutter, it feels so good!

Good luck with everything, I can’t wait to read about your adventures!

  19. yayayay! Congratulations! After all the moving I’ve done in the last few years you think I’d have some advice…but really moving is just the worst. Make sure to keep things organized and throw things away as you pack and definitely make sure you bring toiletries and toilet paper right away! Soap and toilet paper don’t have time to be unpacked, they just need to be available 🙂
