Decor Inspiration: A Mini Office

white desk

While living at home post-college, I was a little spoiled when it came to my bedroom. Sure, I didn’t love the pink walls and carpet from my childhood, but I did have enough room to have a functioning vanity to do my makeup, as well as a desk. Although working away on my laptop on the couch while watching TV is fun and all, sometimes it’s easier to get stuff done at a desk. A lot of my freelance writing or blog work (such as graphic designs) are easier to do with a keyboard and a mouse. Plus the quiet room didn’t hurt either.

Now that I’m moving out on my own, my boyfriend and I both decided we wanted to try to make a small office space in our apartment. We both work from home from time-to-time and I do a lot of blogging and freelance writing, so a desk is a must. Our soon-to-be living room is rather large for an apartment, so we will be fitting in a small desk in the corner and creating our own mini “office space”. While the exact details aren’t set up yet, I’ve been browsing Pinterest for some inspiration. I loved the clean, white desk in the photo above. The bold painting and cute pillows add some color, while the file cabinet would certainly help us organize our bills, paperwork, and medical records.

  1. I am working on my office corner as well and I really want a white desk. Word on the street that chair is pretty but very uncomfortable. I also added a cork board for pinning inspirational stuff and new ideas. This weekend I think I need to go desk shopping I love this target one.

  2. That little white desk you picked is super cute! I dream of a white office, but I know I’d end up throwing in a little (or a lot) of color in real life. Sometimes I just can’t help myself 😉

  3. My boyfriend and I share a small desk at home as well. But in all honesty, we usually end up working from our kitchen table because our desk is so small. So my only advice would be to make sure that you sit at the desk and really visualize yourself there before choosing one. Because if I could do it all over again, I’d choose a bigger workspace (and sacrifice a little living space).
