My Cousin Monica’s Wedding Recap

This past weekend, I had the privilege of being a bridesmaid in my cousin Monica’s wedding. As a first-time bridesmaid, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but after the experience I have only positive thoughts. Needless to say, Monica was far from a Bridezilla (trust me, I’ve watched enough episodes of “Say Yes to the Dress” to know) and her Maid of Honor (her twin sister, my cousin Lindsay) made the bridal shower and bachelorette parties run smoothly. The entire experience made me excited to attend future weddings for my friend and family members.

We started off the day bright and early to get our hair and makeup done at my cousin’s childhood home. I ended up getting a fun bouffant-type updo (this photo was my inspiration) which I loved. Afterwords, we all had our makeup done as well, which was fun for me since I have never had it professionally done before. Shout-out to the ladies from Ann’s Salon for the hair and Flawless by Tina for the makeup!

After getting all dolled up, we had tons of photos taken by Casey Connel Photography. I can’t wait for the photos to come out and be put online so I can look through them and maybe even order a few for myself.

The wedding ceremony was held at a local church, with a reception following at Revolution Hall, a former concert hall that was turned into a room for private and corporate events. The weather that day was beautiful- sunny and hot- and everything seemed to go as planned. The food was so good (thank God my bridesmaid dress wasn’t tight around the stomach area!) and the band, the New York Players, were very entertaining.

Here are some photos taken by James, me, my Dad and a few that I stole from Facebook. Hopefully the professional ones will be up soon!

  2. Man, I love weddings, even if it’s just looking at the photos! The bridesmaids dresses at my wedding were the same color, so naturally I love them! 😉

  3. That yellow dress is SO pretty on you! Definitely something you could wear again which is a nice bonus 🙂

  4. OH my gosh! She looks so gorgeous! I LOVE her dress 🙂 You look beautiful as well! I love the yellow dresses! I think these are actually the colors my best friend is thinking of doing for her wedding (someday) 🙂

  5. What a beautiful wedding! I’m so happy you had a great experience being part of your first wedding! I’ve been in too many weddings to count and my best friend’s was the only one where the bride didn’t morph into a total bridezilla. When I was planning my wedding, one of my top priorities was having zero drama surrounding the day and I’m so happy we had a beautiful, drama-free day. You look stunning in your yellow dress!

  6. I love your hair down, but wow, you are one of those lucky humans that looks possibly even better with your hair pulled up. I feel so self conscious when my hair isn’t down, but you look so gorgeous. Your face is made for it!

    1. Lynette, thank you SO much! I hate wearing my hair up because I feel like a guy, so your compliment means the world to me. It was so hot that day, I had to wear it up! 🙂
