Holiday Looks for 2013
“This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and People StyleWatch and InStyle magazines but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #PeopleInStyle http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO”
When it comes to finding inspiration for just about anything, I often turn to my favorite magazines. I currently subscribe to about 4 women’s lifestyle/fashion/beauty magazines and then am guilty of purchasing a few more while in the line at the supermarket. Oops. Aside from the September issues, one of my favorite months are the holiday issues. There are some great ones out there right now, including People StyleWatch with the gorgeous Carrie Underwood on the cover (can I look like her, please?) and InStyle with the down-to-earth Jennifer Lawrence.
This past weekend a short Target trip to get 2 items turned into an hour long shopping session. If you haven’t already, you need to check out their selection of Christmas ornaments and decorations- it’s amazing. Oh, and if you head to your local Target and buy BOTH magazines, you’ll get a $5 Gift Card! Nothing like free money to spend at Target, am I right?
While browsing through the issues, I noticed a common theme- the holidays, of course! Specifically I was interested in dressing for holiday parties. This year, my company is throwing a fun ugly sweater happy hour, but I know many of you probably have a dressier Christmas outing so I wanted to cover that as well. So here are 3 holiday party looks for different occasions- all inspired by the outfits in the two magazines above.
Ugly Christmas cat sweater / Ann Taylor Petite Bow Pants / Crown Vintage Tabitha Booties
Ugly Sweater Party Outfit
Yes, you can still look cute even during an “ugly” sweater party. This Target cat sweater is adorable, in my opinion (of course). Keep it classy with streamlined red pants and black booties for comfort.
Modcloth Holiday Brunch Dress / Ponte Blazer / Bauble Bar Jeweled Onyx Clusters Earrings / Kelly & Katie Caris Pump
Office Christmas Party Outfit
For a more formal office party, you want to make a nice impression. Opt for a lace or brocade dress in a pretty jeweled hue. Always bring a cardigan or blazer to cover up- bare shoulders may be a no-no depending on your dress code. Opt for simple Mary Jane heels and statement earrings for some fun.
Short Sleeve Red Blouse / Faux-Leather Leggings / Silver Pump / Bauble Bar Delphine Bib Necklace / Kate Spade Sedgewick Place Avalon
Friend’s Christmas Party Outfit
For a get-together with your girlfriends (after all, most of us come home to visit family for the holidays) you can wear something a little more fashion-forward and fun, like faux-leather leggings and flashy jewelry.
Love these holiday looks you put together. I love target, I always walk out with multiple items as well as several unnecessary items!
I love the outfit with the faux leather leggings…definitely something I’d wear!
Haha, love the Ugly sweater outfit! I saw that cat sweater when I was at Target the other day and begged my boyfriend to buy it for me… but he didn’t 🙁
Great post, Rachel. And I LOVE the new look and feel of the blog- super sleek. 🙂
I bought that InStyle and I’m loving it! J Law looks so gorgeous. I’m loving your Christmas part outfit ideas too! My work is having one, but I’m not sure how dressy it will be yet since we’re a pretty casual workplace!
Love these looks, especially the pretty office party attire! I have those booties in tan also and LIVE in them. So great. Love the new blog layout too!
All three of these looks are fabulous! The girlfriend get together is definitely my favorite! I need to get the InStyle with J Law on the cover!! I love her.
Omg, I need that cat sweater! And it’s in stock at both my local Targets. I think it’s a sign!
The girlfriend’s get together party is my absolute favorite outfit!!! So, so cute!
I love the office party look, the color of that dress is great!
Great outfit options! Love those black booties!
