Winter White Makeup

winter white makeup

Winter white doesn’t just apply to your clothes and accessories- you can wear it on your face as well. White shimmery eyeshadow or a wide strip of white eyeliner really makes your eyes pop- no matter what color they are. While white lips might be a bit… odd, why not try a white nail polish? It’s easy to pull off, makes your skin look a little tanner and is work-appropriate. Win-win. Finding the perfect balance of “winter white” and “clown makeup” can be difficult, so here are a few products and tips to help you master the look.

How to Wear White on Your Eyes

I think a white eyelid is perfect for winter. It reminds me of frosty snow, but in a totally non-weird way. Anyway, you have a bunch of options here. If you just want a little pop of white, try gliding on a line of white eyeliner, like MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes Liner or Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Stick. If you can’t seem to break out of your black eyeliner habit, try adding a thin line of white on top of the black. If you’re willing to try white all over, apply a creamy and pearly white eyeshadow to lids. Urban Decay Eyeshadow is always a great choice, and Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadow is a cheaper alternative.

How to Wear White on Your Face

When wearing the color white on your face, it’s best to choose sheer and shimmery formulas. Add a white or white-toned concealer to certain areas of your face to highlight them, such as under the eyes, above your cheekbones and on your browbone. I love Maybelline Concealer and the cheapie e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip to add just a hint of white and sparkle to your face.

How to Wear White on Your Nails

To pull off the white polish, make sure your nails are short and shaped- a square/oval shape works best. You’ll need to apply a few coats of white for it to become opaque, so be patient. And add a clear coat on top to prevent chips. butter LONDON  Nail Lacquer in “Cotton Buds” is a great option for a standard white shade.

How to Wear White on Your Lips

As a general, don’t. BUT the exception is a white gloss that goes on sheer and has a hint of gold, silver or sparkle. The YSL Golden Gloss – Shimmering Lip Gloss does just that. It might look scary in the tube, but it goes on shiny and makes your lips look gorgeous.
