Lip Scrubs & Exfoliators
Open up any national women’s magazine right now and you’re likely to see an article on how to prevent or treat chapped lips. Clearly it’s a common problem if they’re all writing about it, right? Slathering on various lip balms can only do so much- you really need to get down to the surface to eliminate the problem. This is where lip scrubs and exfoliators come into play. Before putting on your favorite lip balm (my go-to is Aquaphor– can’t live without it), take to your lips with one of these products below. You can use your fingers, an old toothbrush, a washcloth or whatever works best.
Best Smelling Lip Exfoliator
The Sparkling Pink Grapefruit Lip Scrub by sara happ takes the cake. You’ll have to try your hardest not to lick your lips after you’ve applied it. She has a bunch of other flavors, too, if grapefruit isn’t your thing.
Best Deal for a Lip Exfoliator
At just $3 a pop, the e.l.f. Studio Lip Exfoliator gets the job done. You apply it like you would a regular lipstick, which makes it easy-to-use. I’ve had mine for a few months now and it lasts forever. Plus, the vanilla smell doesn’t hurt, either.
Coolest Lip Exfoliator
I have to admit I haven’t personally tried the LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub, but I’m so curious as to how it smells/tastes. They just opened a new LUSH store at an outlet near me, so you know I’ll be stopping in soon to pick up a few new products to try out. Has anyone tried this yet?
Best Multi-Use Lip Exfoliator
The jane iredale ‘Sugar & Butter’ Lip Exfoliator & Plumper can be used for a variety of things. On one end, you have an all-natural exfoliator to prep your lips for your favorite lipstick. On the other hand you have a lip plumper to give your lips a fuller appearance.
Cutest Lip Exfoliator Name
The Bliss Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub gets my vote for the cutest name- Fabulips! Plus, Bliss products are known for being awesome, so this is a must on any beauty lovers list.
Best Hydrating Lip Exfoliator
Although this post is about exfoliators and scrubs, a product that does that and nourishes and hydrates is even better. The Tarte Maracuja Lip Exfoliant features unique and natural ingredients to rid your lips of dead skin while replacing moisture at the same time. Win-win.
Lip Exfoliator with the Coolest Ingredients
The Bite Beauty Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub is formulated without sulfates and parabens, unlike many drugstore products. With ingredients such as Trans-Resveratrol (which helps reduce wrinkles), Vitamin C, rice bran (huh?) and natural cherry fruit flavor, you’ll see why this scrub won my award.
What are your favorite lip scrubs or exfoliators?
I’ve been meaning to do a post on this! It’s so hard to keep your lips nice and soft in winter. I love that you included “cutest name”.
I have never actually bought a lip scrub before, but about three months before my wedding twice a week I would mix olive oil and brown sugar together and put it on my lips – did the trick and lips looked great!! I’ve heard really great things about the ELF one!
I just bought the ELF exfoliator, but I’ve yet to use it. Glad to hear it does the job!
I have never tried a lip exfoliator, I feel like all I want to do is smother them in Aquaphor – maybe when the weather heats up though!
Lush stores are incredible!
These all sound amazing! Definitely need a good scrub for my lips, they have already been chapped several times 🙁
I have to check out the e.l.f one…you can’t beat it for 3 bucks!

This post was meant for me! I need to do a lip scrub because my lips are always chapped.
Love this! I’ve only used a lip scrub when I’ve gotten a facial, but I’ve actually been thinking about buying one. Thanks for sharing!
I like to mix coconut oil and brown sugar!
I love the Sara Happ lip scrubs! And I really want to try the Tarte one!
Sara Happ’s scrubs are nice, but actually forgo lip scrubs for a damp washcloth, they seem to work as well and they are free. winning! I also love aquaphor, it’s the bomb… are people still saying that??
I got the Lush one last month in Mint Choc and I LOVE it!
Love this! I’ve actually never used lip scrubs, so I’m going to need to give it a try! xx
I’m definitely in the middle of a chapped lip crisis lollll! This post couldn’t have come at a better time. I only use chapstick and it never works, so I will definitely try out one of these scrubs! Thanks for sharing Rachel:)!
Need to invest in one of these scrubs
Oh I LOVE the way you divided them into categories, that’s so useful! And I’m a big fan of a good deal so you know I’ll be checking out the elf product.
I’ve been wanting to try making my own! I’ve seen a lot of recipes using coconut oil and sugar.
Also – yay for getting a new Lush in your town!
I love aquaphor too! But I have never used any of these other products but will be trying some soon. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I have the same debate every winter: do I buy an lip exfoliator or do I make one? You should know that every year I choose the DIY and yet I’ve never actually made one. It’s probably time that I actually do something about it, right? haha
I’ve heard good things about the Lush lip scrubs- have been meaning to pick a few up and give ’em a shot. 🙂
I’ve never heard of a lip scrub!! I need to try that.I am a Chapstick queen!
This first grapefruit one looks amazing!
totally curious about that lip scrub! I think I may need it.
I SO need these this time of year. I’m obsessed with ELF’s super affordable products!
I typically DIY a lip scrub, but I might need to try one of these so I can have it on hand more often!
I feel like lip scrubs have been popping up everywhere! The Sara Happ one’s packaging immediately draws me in. I have a few diy lip scrubs that I want to try too!

This is great. I’ve got to get my husband in on this lip exfoliating bandwagon too. No body likes kissing cracked lips! Gotta stay smoochable even in the winter months! I’ve missed you btw! Ive been so busy but I’m trying to make my way back around to all my favorite bloggers! Hope the new year is treating you well love!
