The definition of “being healthy” means something different to each and every person. For some, it’s working out obsessively or cutting out all carbs. For others, it’s something a little simpler, like substituting a cookie for a yogurt or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Personally, I think that as long as you’re making strides to be healthier in your own way, kudos to you!
Everyone has their vice: sleeping in past their alarm, eating chocolate, drinking soda… You don’t have to completely cut these things out of your life (after all, I could never live without a little chocolate), but just make some healthier changes. Today I’m going to show a few ways to make these indulgences a bit healthier- without giving them up entirely. First up? Soda.
Did you know that each serving of the Core Four TEN products (7UP, Sunkist, A&W and Canada Dry) only has ten calories? Soda lovers can still enjoy the occasional, full flavor beverage by choosing to purchase one of these products. While making a short trip to Walmart recently, I picked up these beverages along with a few other healthy snacks. Here is a fun drink recipe that shows how your favorite foods/drinks can be made a bit healthier.
7 Up Mocktail Recipe
What better way to treat yourself to a soda then by infusing it with some fruit? This easy “mocktail” only requires a few ingredients: 7UP, lemon juice and your favorite fruits. First, pour yourself a tall glass (or pitcher, in my case) of 7UP. Then take your choice of fruit (frozen or fresh) and add a few pieces to the glass. Finish it off with a squeeze or two of fresh lemon juice. If you leave the fruit until the end, it will be soaked with the fizzy, lime-flavored soda, which makes it extra yummy. I chose lemons and strawberries for this example.
Right now, Walmart is offering $0.50 off of the purchase of TWO 2 Liter bottles or TWO 4-pack cans of 7UP TEN, A&W TEN, Canada Dry TEN, RC TEN or Sunkist TEN soda. This offer is available while supplies last, from 3/27-4/17. Click here for the coupon. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter for more deals!
James and I like to snack- I mean, who doesn’t? I happen to have a sweet (and salty) tooth, so the challenge for me is to get a little of those tastes while still eating healthy. My go-to healthy snacks are organic popcorn and salsa with whole-wheat chips. James’ favorite snacks lately is Sabra hummus and flavored almonds (the vanilla ones are to die for!)
What are your favorite yummy, but healthy snacks?
Love the idea of a mocktail so perfect for a little gathering.
I LOVE IT! And I pretty much add lemons to everything…. water, tea, soda, vodka/soda 😉 It is so good!
I think I’ll make those mocktails for my son’s birthday party!
I add one lemon to my water everyday. Its super healthy and refreshing. What a great idea of a mocktail
craving 7up now! 🙂
I drink 1 can of soda daily (bad I know), so this would be the perfect substitute! I can still get my soda fix…only a healthier version of it! Love the idea of a mocktail ;)!
That sounds delicious and refreshing!
This sounds amazing!
you had me at healthy snack (and the picture with fruit in the pitcher lol) such a good idea!
