Summer, the season of leg shaving and painting toenails, is open us. This summer, I have a few fun trips planned to the beach, fairs, and other get-togethers with family and friends. In addition to finding the perfect summer dress or pair of sandals, I want to make sure my legs and feet look good since the world will be seeing them- whether they like it or not. So naturally I made my monthly trip to Target to find a few new products to get great legs for summer.

To make my chicken legs and tiny toes look a little prettier (and stay protected from the sun), here are a few of my tips. Get great legs for summer with the help of Sally Hansen and Energizer products.

Protect yourself from the sun

Sunburns suck, plain and simple. The easiest way to avoid them is to find a sunscreen that works for you and to apply it liberally. I find that having a few different bottles- one for my purse, one at home and one in my car- helps reduce the chances of me getting a burn. Also, find the brand and formula that works for you. For example, I’m not a fan of the spray sunscreens, so I gravitate towards lotions that also hydrate at the same time. Two of my recent favorites are the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration SPF 30 Sunscreen. It lasts 12 hours and smells like heaven. I also am partial to the new Banana Boat Protect & Hydrate 2 in 1 Sunscreen & Moisturizer (SPF 50), which has aloe vera and antioxidants to keep skin hydrated.

Get a smooth shave

To get the best shave, I have used Skintimate shaving cream for years- ever since I started shaving, actually. They have the best selection of scents and work well to prevent nicks and cuts by moisturizing my skin properly. I’m loving the Skintimate Skin Therapy Moisturizing Shave Gel, which includes vitamin E, aloe and olive butter.

Prep your toes

To get pedicure-worthy toes at home, I first file them gently with a nail file, like the Sally Hansen Nail Shaper (which comes in cute, summer patterns). The cuticles on my toes aren’t nearly as bad as the ones on my fingers, but when they are I use the Sally Hansen Cuticle Rehab Cuticle Oil, which works wonders.

Paint your toes

I usually stick to solid colors on my fingernails, but when it comes to my toes, I go all-out. The Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art Tool Kit includes just what I need to adds dots, stripes and more. I used the kit’s dotting tool and the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color in “Sizzlin’ Saffron” to create cute flower designs on my big toes.

  1. Cracking up over the fact that you said you have chicken legs! I have them, too. I’ve fried them one too many times, so I’ll be layering on the sunscreen this summer. Your toes look too cute!

  2. GIRL, I have chicken legs too! I love all these tips and tricks – I need to get more skintimate in my life 🙂 xx

  3. I always keep one, or two, in my daughters backpack, and at least one in the car. Now, be careful with the one in the car. Once I opened mine and, due to the heat, it splattered all over the dashboard leaving a stain.
