Escape the Room NYC
I’m very fortunate to work with such wonderful people at my job. Whether it’s someone in my department who I sit next to every day or someone who I can bond with during happy hour, my co-workers rock. This past Friday we planned a little co-worker outing to Escape the Room NYC.
Sounds scary, right? I had never heard of Escape the Room prior to signing up for the event, so I’m here to inform you all. Escape the Room is a fun, interactive game taking place in a building in New York City. While it looks like any other ordinary room, it’s actually a mystery puzzle. Find the hidden objects, figure out the clues and solve the puzzles to earn your freedom and “Escape the Room.” You have 60 minutes, so be quick! Each room has a theme and can fit a certain amount of people. Ours was “The Theater”, which was a room decorated to look like a theater, puppets and auditorium chairs and all. There were clues hidden all over the room, codes you had to figure out to open locks, and singing puppets.
The hour went by so quickly, but was a lot of fun. Escape the Room is a great outing for friends and co-workers since it’s all about teamwork. So did we “Escape the Room”? YES! With 12 minutes left to spare, our team successfully solved all of the puzzles and clues and opened up the exit door to escape the room.
Apparently only 17-20% of teams actually escape the room, most with 30 seconds to a minute left to spare. So I’d say we’re a smart bunch, right? If you’re in the NYC area (they have both a midtown and downtown location), I highly suggest checking it out. Tickets run around $30 a person. To see if it’s for you, check out their Yelp reviews or this Daily Beast article.
Have you ever been to “Escape the Room” or a similar event?
