What to Wear To A Summer Wedding

If you’re like me, you have multiple weddings to attend this summer (or maybe you already have!) One of the best parts about having weddings to attend to is the opportunity to buy a new cute dress, am I right? This season I’ll be a bridesmaid in one of the weddings and a guest at the other two, so I’m on the hunt for two new dresses — a beach-y version for a Rhode Island wedding and a semi-formal option for an indoor June fête. Below are a few outfit inspirations for your upcoming summer weddings for every dress code, ranging from a super casual affair to a formal celebration.

What to Wear to a Beach Wedding

When I think of beach weddings, my mind immediately goes to a long, flowy maxi dress. Pair it with a fun wedge sandal, some statement earrings, and a woven clutch to finish off the look.

What to Wear to a Semiformal Wedding

Modcloth Colorful of Life Dress  |  Vince Camuto ‘Casara’ Snake Embossed Leather Sandal  |  Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in ‘Melted Fuchsia’  |  Kate Spade ‘Glossy Petals’ Hinged Cuff

Most of the weddings I’ve personally attended have been what I call “semiformal”. They aren’t black tie, so they don’t require a long dress, but you want to look a little more dressed up than usual. A fun floral print dress is perfect for summer paired with nude heels (they go with everything!)

What to Wear to a Black Tie Wedding

Monique Lhuillier Twist Shoulder Satin Chiffon Gown  |  BaubleBar Celestial Drop Earrings  |  Enzo Angiolini
‘Manna’ Ankle Strap Sandal  |  Milly Geometric Embossed Leather Small Frame Clutch

Black tie weddings are for me really tricky. There are way more limited options (and they’re often expensive), so it’s not as fun to go shopping for this type of wedding. Keep things simple if you’re worried about being not dressed up enough – a black floor-length gown and subtle accessories fit the bill.

What to Wear to a Casual Wedding

Pleated Tank Dress  |  La Regale ‘Candy’ Crystal Clutch  |  Jessica Simpson ‘Jadyn’ Strappy Wedge Sandal  |  BaubleBar Crystal Dandelion Bracelet

For a casual summer wedding (like a backyard BBQ), you can pretty much wear any dress you want. A short, simple pleated tank dress will keep you comfortable while also looking cute. Opt for wedges if it’s an outdoor wedding, since you don’t want your heels to sink in the mud/grass.

  1. Love the semi-formal wedding look, I’m going to a wedding in august and I’ll definitely be wearing something like that!
