My 5-Minute Morning Routine

5 minute morning routine

Do you ever have those mornings where you’d rather sleep in an extra 15 minutes instead of do your makeup or hair? Of course you have. I’d like to think that by now I’ve perfected the “make myself look acceptable to go out in public” routine in just five minutes. And today I’m going to show you just how to do that in a few simple steps.

Take care of your ‘pits (1 minute)

Whether you prefer to shower in the morning or the night before, one thing is consistent — you need some type of protection for your armpits. Which is why I’ve partnered with Dove to tell you all about their Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant.

Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant allows you to “upgrade” your beauty routine by going beyond the 48-hour wetness and odor protection. Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant’s NutriumMoisture formula leaves your underarms feeling soft and smooth, making it an essential part of your everyday morning routine. I don’t feel complete and ready to tackle the day unless I’ve applied by antiperspirant.

There have been days (okay, just once or twice ) where I totally spaced in the morning and forgot to put on my antiperspirant. Yikes! I’m not alone — 49% of women went back home when they realized they had forgotten to put it on. And 87% of those who didn’t return home said they felt self-conscious.

Spritz on some dry shampoo or texturizer (1 minute)

I have naturally wavy hair, which is often how I wear it to work. Now and then I’ll use hot tools or give myself a blow-dry, but I prefer to save time (and keep my hair healthy) by going natural Monday through Friday. After I’ve woken up, I typically just spray either dry shampoo (if my hair looks greasy) or a texturizer (if my hair is clean but looks a bit limp and lifeless) to my roots. Then I scrunch my hair or lightly brush through it and I’m done.

Dot on a foundation with SPF (1 minute)

To get a more even tone and keep my skin safe from the sun’s rays, I like to use a foundation or BB cream that has SPF built in. I only use about a dime-sized amount and dot it on my forehead, nose and cheeks before lightly blending it in. I skip concealer since I don’t really need it.

Use clear brow gel to keep things in place (1 minute)

To tame my brows and keep them looking good all day, I’ll swipe on a clear brow mascara. Additionally, I like to use the same product/wand to tame any baby hairs or frizzies that pop up in the morning. No need for heavy hairspray here!

Swipe on a coat of mascara (1 minute)

Lastly, I swipe on a thin coat of mascara after I’ve curled my lashes. This makes me look alive and awake. Then I throw on a blouse and some jeans and I’m out the door!

  1. forgetting deodorant is seriously the worst. i’d rather forget to unplug my hair straightener than forget it (which is saying something).
