My Bridal Shower
I know it’s been a while since I’ve consistently posted here, but I blame it on having to plan a wedding. Speaking of weddings, I thought I’d give a little recap of my bridal shower. This special event was held on Saturday, June 18th at Moscatiellos in Troy, NY. I decided to have the shower close to where I grew up (and where most of my family lives), since we’re doing most of the other wedding events down here in southern NY/northern NJ where I live now. I’m so thankful for everyone who helped out, especially my Mom, Maid-of-Honor Danielle, my bridesmaids, and my Mother-in-Law. I was blown away by all my friends and family who traveled far to be there for my special day as well.
The Dress
It was not easy to find a white dress for my bridal shower. Everything I tried on was either too childish (I looked like the flower girl) or too revealing. And what’s up with all these tight dresses? I could barely find anything that didn’t cling to every bit of fat on my body. Woof. Luckily, I found a nice balance in this Adelyn Rae Strapless Peplum Sheath Dress that I got at Nordstrom.

The Treats
The cupcakes that we had for dessert were from Crazy Russian Girls Neighborhood Bakery, a local bakery in Bennington, Vermont. I had the pleasure of trying their cupcakes a few years earlier at another family event, and they did not disappoint this time around, either. My Mom ordered their traditional vanilla and chocolate, as well as red velvet and carrot cake (my personal favorite).
My cousin and bridesmaid Monica purchased and packaged macarons from The Placid Baker for my shower favors. I love macarons but don’t get to eat them often as they aren’t always available near where I live (plus, they are super expensive). She packaged them herself in cute boxes with filler, ribbon, and a custom tag. It was such a nice surprise and treat!
The Decor
My Mom ordered custom floral arrangements from Central Market Florist at our local grocery store and they were gorgeous. They included pink and white roses of different sizes, lush green stems, and snapdragons. I brought an extra arrangement into work with me to decorate my desk and a woman at the train station complimented me on them and asked what florist made them.
My bridesmaids and Mom did a great job of decorating everything. I loved the cute “From Miss to Mrs” Banner they had, as well as the Personalized Bridal Shower Chalkboard Sign. Since the theme was hearts, there was a lot of girly, feminine details all over. I also loved the cute guest book that all my guests signed with their custom messages. So sweet!
The Gifts
I was so overwhelmed with all of the thoughtful gifts I received. James and I are so thankful and grateful. My bridesmaids were the cutest and put together a cat gift basket (which they said came from my cats, Bella and Harvey). It was adorable. Can you tell I’m a crazy cat lady or what?
The Events
My bridesmaids set up a bunch of fun games (but nothing too cheesy — they know me so well) and had a nice guestbook for everyone to sign with their marriage advice. It was really nice (and funny) to read everyone’s advice after the shower. For games, my sister-in-law Danielle had James answer a bunch of questions and recorded his answers. Then I had to guess what he said. I got 13/15 right, so I’d say that’s not too shabby.
Another favorite game of mine was the “Under the Chair” game. Danielle had James pose in a bunch of hilarious situations and took photos. Think a grown man dusting the house with a feather duster, trimming the hedges with an apron on.. you get the point. Then whoever got the photo of him watching sports (the only “real” photo of the bunch) won a prize. Everyone was dying laughing over the staged photos.
congrats!
