Honeymoon Packing List

honeymoon-packing-list

It’s crazy to think in that tomorrow we’ll be married and heading to our honeymoon in Aruba! I’m not much of a traveler and don’t get the opportunity to go on vacations often, so we’re making the most of this time in our lives and going somewhere warm and sunny. I’m by no means an expert on packing or flying, but here’s what I’ll be bringing along with me for our week-long stay.

Luggage

Like I said, I don’t travel too frequently, so when it came to choosing luggage to put on our wedding registry, I just chose something simple and affordable. Ideally I would never check a bag (it’s annoying), so we opted for a carry-on approved size. The American Tourister Ilite Xtreme Spinner 21 got good reviews, came in a variety of colors, and fit our sizing requirements. The first time we’re using them is on our honeymoon, so I’ll let you know my opinion of them after that.

Travel-Sized Beauty Products

In lieu of checking a bag to include full-size products, I’d rather just use travel-sized ones for convenience. Yes, some of my favorite products aren’t available in these sizes, but I try to use something similar when traveling so my bag is lighter. I never understand women who check a bag just to house all their makeup and hair products (unless you’re a makeup artist or something). I get tons of samples and trial-size beauty products as an Allure Beauty Box subscriber, frequent Sephora customer, and blogger, and these are my saving grace for traveling.

My must-haves include the following products, which are all either already small enough to carry on or a travel-sized version of the original product.

For my hair, I’ll be bringing the smaller sizes of my L’ORÉAL Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray (to keep the frizzies away and hold my style) and Bumble and bumble Bb. Curl (Style) Pre-Style/Re-Style Primer (to apply out of the shower to enhance my natural waves). I think I might go au natural and skip the curling/flat iron.

For skincare, I’ll bring my travel-sized versions of Lancôme BI-FACIL – Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover (to remove waterproof eye makeup for nights out), boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil (to remove face makeup and the day’s sweat/grime), and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock (I have the highest SPF they offer, so I figured Aruba would be the best place to use it)!

For makeup, I’ll be bringing only the essentials, which include travel-sized versions of Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment (the perfect hint of color with SPF to use on lips and cheeks), stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner (the best I’ve tried so far), and Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara (my favorite budget buy).

Books

I picked up three books to read either on the beach or the flight. I didn’t want to read anything too serious, so I chose books with real-life stories or funny plotlines. I chose I Was Told There’d Be Cake: Essays by Sloane Crosley, Barbara the Slut and Other People by Lauren Holmes, and People I Want to Punch in the Throat: Competitive Crafters, Drop-Off Despots, and Other Suburban Scourges by Jen Mann.

Clothing, Shoes, and Accessories

Duh. I’m mainly packing three things: bathing suits, sundresses, and sandals. Additionally, I’ll throw in a few cover-ups, a beach bag, a few simple tank tops and tees, jean shorts, and then something comfy for the flight.

A few of my favorites I’m packing are this Zara Pineapple Printed Dress (yes, it’s from the girl’s section but I don’t care), this cute Heart and Harmony Bandeau Molded Cup Swim Top and the matching Hipster Swim Bottoms, these super-cliche Gilligan & O’Malley™ Bridal Flip Flops, this H&M Patterned Scarf, and this Leith Strap Wrap Dress.
