How to Transition Your Skincare Routine from Summer to Fall
Summer and fall are my two favorite seasons. In fact, the transition from summer’s heat to the fresh scent of fall (“crisp leaves” is how I would describe this scent) is my favorite time of the entire year. We obviously all change our wardrobes during this seasonal transition, but how many of us think of change our skincare products?
My skin in the summer is very different than my skin during the fall, so I like to switch up not only the products I’m using, but my morning and nighttime routine as well. Here is how I transition my skincare routine from summer to fall, with the help of Bioré®.
Gently Exfoliate Summer Skin Away
The keyword here is “gently”. A lot of products that are labeled “exfoliating” are way too harsh for my skin. In winter, I can get away with using a rougher exfoliating product since my skin is thicker and tougher (it sounds silly, but that’s the best way to describe it).
During summer, I usually have a tan and my skin is much drier from the heat. Therefore, I need to shed those burnt layers off to reveal my fresh base for fall. That’s where the Bioré® Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub comes in. The powder scrub (with natural baking soda) activates with water to transform into a fizzy foam that removes dirt and oil and cleans deeply for smooth skin. I love that it dissolves as you cleanse, so you can’t over-scrub your skin or irritate it. Since the product is most effective when used 2-3 times per week, I try to use it at night on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Fix Pigmentation Problems
Even with sunscreen protection, it can be hard to come out of days spent in the sun without a sunspot or two. To even out your skin tone by fixing pigmentation spots, I use a brightening cleanser all over my face and a dark spot treatment just on the targeted dark areas. After a month or so of daily use, I definitely notice a difference in the brightness and evenness of my skin.
Start Using a Primer
In the summer, I rarely wear foundation and concealer. I tend to just slap on a tinted moisturizer or BB cream since my skin is naturally a little darker and, well, better-looking. For fall, I’m back to my pale self and start wearing foundation since it has more coverage. To keep my base on all day, I apply a dime-sized amount of primer to my face and top of neck to keep my foundation looking nice all day long.

That’s one of my fave products too! I’ve been using it on repeat the last few weeks 🙂
