5 Easy Home Decor Swaps for Spring

When springtime is in the air outdoors, I swear that my mood gets a little better. But since it’s still cold outside, I’ll be bringing spring indoors instead (a month early, I’m aware). I’m not going full-on Easter bunny family or pink florals, but swapping out a few everyday items with something more spring-y is on my to-do list.

Like any other holiday or season, it’s best to buy decor a month or two ahead of time. (Did anyone else miss out on all the good Christmas decor this year because it was sold out by the end of November? Just me?) These selections are all from Target and available online or in-store. I’ve put together a list of 5 easy home decor swaps for spring that you can do without breaking the bank.

Swap Out Your Pillows

I’m guilty of only swapping out my pillows when one gets ruined/damaged or I end up re-decorating a larger chunk of my living room (which I’ll be doing soon once our new couch comes in!) I really #respect people who swap out their pillows every season, and I aim to be like them… someday. One easy way to bring spring into your home is to trade out your standard dark or neutral pillows for a spring color or pattern. Pastel shades like yellow and pink look nice if you have a gray couch, while blues go with just about any color furniture. If you’re feeling fancy, try a floral pillow.

Add a Wreath

Don’t forget about the outside of your home when decorating for spring! A low-effort way to add some spring to your home’s exterior is to swap out your winter wreath for a spring wreath. If you’re not into feminine florals, anything with basic greenery will do. But if you like a little color, try a lavender, magnolia, or cherry blossom wreath. The best part is that these can be used all spring and summer (until it’s time to break out the fall wreath, of course!)

Bring in More Greenery

If you have a green thumb, there’s no need to bring it faux greenery to make your home feel all spring-y. I, however, am not that great with plants. Somehow a succulent I had died. So instead, I opt for faux greenery 90% of the time. Fill up any and all vases in your home with spring flowers like dahlias (my personal favorite flowers), daisies, sedum, and more. I have faux greenery in my home year-round, but during spring I try to swap that out for something more colorful.

Introduce Color Into Your Kitchen

If you don’t want to make your living room or bedroom a springtime oasis, give a mini makeover to your kitchen. I find that there are always so many fun kitchen accessories for each holiday (especially at Target) that are affordable, so I don’t feel frivolous buying them when they’ll only be displayed/used for a few months of the year. A cheery, bright mug or bowl freshens up a drab kitchen.

Replace Your Shelf Decor

Whether you have built-ins, floating shelves, or curio cabinets, a final easy way to bring spring into your home decor is to replace your existing shelf decor with something representative of the season. Items like smaller framed canvases look nice on floating shelves, while pretty vases and candles work for built-ins and cabinets.
