Seed Bead Flower Jewelry
All the trends from my youth are coming back in style: tie dye, claw clips, biker shorts — the list goes on. When I see a celebrity wearing one of these trends, I have to wonder if the trend is going to stick or not. Then I deliberate if it’s something I want to try to wear again or if I should just accept the fact that I’m in my 30’s and move on (like I did with crop tops — that just isn’t happening over here).
The latest 90’s trend from my childhood that is coming back into style is seed bead flower jewelry (sometimes just called flower beaded jewelry). You know what I’m talking about — taking tiny, colorful seed beads, carefully stringing them along to form a flower, and repeating until you have enough to tie around your ankle or wrist. While they look really easy to make, I remember them being a pain in the ass. (Side note: if you’re feeling nostalgic, this is a good tutorial to make your own).
Or maybe you read the headline about Bottega Veneta’s selling one of these floral-beaded necklaces for $3,081. Yep, that’s right. Something we made at Girl Scout camp as pre-teens was being sold for over 3k. Understandably the brand faced some backlash and hilarious comments on social media.
If you want to wear this trend (without that 3,000 price tag, of course) I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite seed bead flower necklaces, earrings, anklets, bracelets, and rings below.
Beaded Flower Stretch Ring | Daisy Seed Bead Anklet | Bohemian Flower Bead Earrings | Beaded Flower Choker | Beaded Flower Hoop Earrings | Daisy Beaded Necklace | Colorful Beaded Choker | Mint Beaded Flower Earrings | Floral Charm Beaded Necklace
These are all cute, especially the earrings!
Man, I have some fond memories of seed beads! Totally had a huge kit and would create all kinds of necklaces, anklets (anklets! ha!) and bracelets. I’m kinda ready to see this trend again!
